FAQ for Drivers

Please reach out to us at Support@DriveKGo.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • You must consent to and pass a criminal background check and vulnerable sector check which will be administered through a third-party service provider.
  • You must be at least 20 years old with a clean driving record.
  • You need to have at least five years of driving experience in Canada.
  • You must have a four-door vehicle with four passenger seats that is a 2013 model or newer.  
  • Your vehicle must pass 180-point vehicle inspection.
  • You must have a social insurance number.
  • You must be eligible to work in Canada and provide evidence of that eligibility.
  • You must have a valid driver's license (in the province you are driving) and your car must be insured in your name. 
  • You must hold a package policy with no less than $1M of insurance liability.
  • Childcare experience isn’t a must, but definitely an asset!
  • You must complete an in-person interview and training before you are certified to become a K-Go Driver. 


It's important to note that our baseline Driver requirements are set by provincial or municipal regulations. K-Go has additional requirements beyond regulations to become a Driver in our K-Go Community.

Download the K-Go Driver app from either the App Store or Google Play. The K-Go app will take you though the onboarding process.

After you create a K-Go Driver account, we’ll send you an email/text message so that you can work with our 3rd party background check partner to obtain a driving record, a federal and provincial criminal check and a vulnerable sector check. This is of no cost to you. The results will be submitted to K-Go upon completion. These results are required for the final phases of your certification to drive for K-Go.

Our K-Go Drivers must have 4-door vehicles that are no more than 10 years old and must pass a safety inspection as per jurisdictional guidelines. Vehicles must be clean and odor free and in good cosmetic condition regardless of passing a 180-point vehicle safety inspection.

While we do not require childcare experience, we know our parents will prefer those Drivers that have some type of background in childcare or with extra certifications like first aid and CPR. 


As our K-Go Driver pool grows, we will we prioritize the certification and onboarding of Drivers with specialized skills like first aid and CPR and those with childcare experience.

There are no tests to write to become a K-Go Driver, but you are required to attend an in-person interview and training. You will not be certified to drive until these are complete.

K-Go Driver vehicles must have a package policy* with no less than $1 million of insurance liability. Drivers must provide a copy this policy in order to qualify to be a K-Go Driver. During the onboarding process in the K-Go Driver app, this document an be submitted. 


K-Go also maintains comprehensive insurance policies that are in effect while K-Go Drivers are on their way to pick up a Rider(s) and while transporting a Rider(s) until you complete the ride.

We specialize in the transportation of kids ages 5 to 17, and we are available 7 days a week from 6:30am to 10:00pm.  We are a reservation or 'pre-book' ride service, so to ensure that K-Go Drivers have enough time to review rides that are available to them. K-Go Drivers have the ability to upload their available drive times (up to 3 weeks in advance) into the K-Go Driver App so that bookings are automatically matched to your availability.

K-Go will make payments to K-Go Drivers every week directly to your bank account. This is set up via Stripe during the onboarding process. You can track your earnings directly in the K-Go App.

Yes, but the payment varies depending on the time frame related to the cancellation. 


PRE-BOOKED RIDES:

  • If an accepted ride is canceled within an hour of the pre-booked ride time, the Driver will be paid 50% of the estimated earned fee.


RIDES SCHEDULED IMMEDIATELY (45 MINUTES MINIMUM):

If a ride is cancelled more than 5 minutes after a Driver has accepted a ride, a $8 cancellation fee will be charged and paid to the Driver. 


RIDE NO SHOWS: 100% of the estimated earned fee will be paid to the Driver.

You are not permitted to use outward or inward facing cameras (or record audio) as privacy laws are different with private use vs business use and when engaging with minors.

A K-Go ride starts before you even start driving. They include:

  • Preparing your vehicle
  • Confirming or checking in for a ride
  • Starting a ride
  • Picking up a Rider(s)
  • Dropping off a Rider(s)


During your training process, all of these steps will be reviewed.

The K-Go Driver app uses the location services on your phone to function. It must be turned on in order to drive for K-Go. 


A K-Go Driver's location enables us to calculate your route, your earnings and is used for regulatory and insurance purposes. Location tracking also provides you your navigation directions and information for our Guardians and our K-Go Safe Ride Support agents to track the ride real time.

K-Go Drivers are prohibited from transporting any persons, other than the Rider(s) listed in their ride booking. 


Any attempts to perform a ride with an unauthorized third party will result in the immediate deactivation of the K-Go Driver's account, as outlined in our Terms of Service.

After your interview and training that will certify you as a K-Go Driver, you will receive your K-Go vest, badge and vehicle window clings. You are required to wear the K-Go vest over your t-shirt or jacket for every ride.  Three vehicle window clings must be visible for every ride and placed on the vehicle based on provincial requirements. They should be placed in the bottom right of the windshield, in the front passenger window and on the rear windshield of the vehicle.
